Mary Bowen, Voice Teacher
Mary enjoys teaching private voice lessons in the NYC area to people with a varied array of backgrounds and experience. Her private students range in age from 15 years old to 75 years old. She has been teaching privately for 20 years while pursuing her own singing as well. Her students are either pursuing professional careers in performance, simply seeking a way to keep music in their lives through regular lessons or just learning to read music or find their singing voices. These people sing in all styles of music: Classical, Broadway/Musical Theater, Jazz, Sacred and World Music.
Mary holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from The University of Texas at San Antonio. She has a Master of Music in Voice and an Artist Diploma in Opera Performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and has extensive knowledge of the singing voice and how it works. She credits her knowledge of vocal pedagogy to her rigorous degree programs, her own voice teachers and her experience teaching and singing through the years. Mary can help you in all areas of your singing whether it is technique, basic ear-training or sight reading skills, musicality, styles, acting, foreign language diction/pronunciation, characterization or simply learning a song.
